Korité, the West African name for Eid al-Fitr, marks the end of Ramadan. In Guinea, a predominantly Muslim country, it is a paid public holiday and one of the high points of family and religious life. In 2027, Ramadan is expected to begin around 8 February and Korité to fall around 9 or 10 March, the exact date depending on the sighting of the crescent moon and the official announcement by religious authorities.
Business travellers should expect a slower pace during Ramadan (adjusted hours, reduced daytime activity) and a near pause in government offices and many companies around the holiday. For the diaspora, by contrast, it is a time of homecoming and reunions, with many trips to Conakry.
Note that the FONI forum and the SIERBA fair are scheduled in Conakry in March 2027, days or weeks after Korité. It is wise to check exact dates before setting meetings.
For visitors: a furnished apartment with a kitchen gives full flexibility over meal times during Ramadan and room to host family for the celebration.
