Insurance and liability: who answers for what
This is the question administrative and security officers ask every time, and private clients rarely — even though it concerns them just as much. With a chauffeur-driven vehicle the chain of liability is short, and that is precisely the point: the vehicle is insured by us, the driver is our employee, and the company answers in the event of a claim.
In self-drive that same chain turns against the driver: excess, personal liability in the event of injury, and in a country whose driving conventions and post-accident procedures you do not know, that can become extremely heavy. It is one reason many international organizations simply prohibit their staff from driving themselves in Guinea.
It is also why we do not offer self-drive. It is not a commercial restriction we impose; it is the structure of the service.

A typical day, and what is genuinely included
A day's hire in Conakry as it actually works: the driver arrives at the agreed address and time, stays at your disposal for the agreed window, and takes you wherever you need within the agreed area. He waits during your meetings — that is included, and it is what separates this from a taxi.
The standard window is eight to ten hours. Beyond that, overtime is priced in advance and appears on the quote, never negotiated at the end of the day. We are strict on this: a driver negotiating a supplement at nine in the evening in the car is a failed service.

- Included in town: mileage, with no meter and no surprises.

Why we never rent without a driver
The question comes up on every enquiry from abroad, and it is a fair one. The answer has three parts, none of them commercial.
First, traffic in Conakry follows conventions as much customary as written: right of way is negotiated by eye contact, motorbikes appear from nowhere, and a driver used to Europe or North America takes weeks to read the traffic correctly. Second, road checks and the procedures after a collision require knowing who to speak to and how — a local driver settles in ten minutes what takes a foreigner alone half a day. Third, the driver knows the city better than any app: he knows which road is blocked at which hour, and that is what keeps a schedule intact.
So it is not a comfort upgrade sold along the way. It is what makes the service work.
